Reflections about that Year

We are almost finishing this year. In times like that, we normally think about how was our year. For me, my year was a surprise. I really didn`t know what to expect. I was in a new school, meeting new people, living a new routine, which all the people saying I would suffer a lot and I wouldn`t resist in that "school for crazy people". And, in fact, I really suffered, because I was long away from my friends and with all our tests in Friday and Saturday  my social life was reduced to zero(this is true, even if you love Santo Antonio you have to admit this), which means that I couldn`t see my friends with frequency. But, in fact, I didn`t give up because I had some people helping me, like my twin sister,who supported me a lot, and my little brother who always called me to play with him, taking me out from my stressed reality. My new friends in Santo Antonio helped a plenty too because they were in the same sutiation as mine, so they understood and try to find and share ways to live more relaxed. In special, a friend that I will never forget, a person who did all for me, and even with only ten months of friendship, I feel I`ve known him for a life. And my friends from other school were important too, because they were patitent with me and were always calling me and trying to keep in touch.
With all these things happened this year, I learnt how important is a friend, and when your friendship is real, it will be forever, even if you`re far away from your friend. I learnt that God will always give us a motive to smile,  but its our decision to reconize this moment of happiness and enjoy it or to let it slip and continue to live in a depressed existence.
Well, I think I`ve already written enough, so let`s finhish it with a message that, I think, suits with my ideas:
"Life is like playing a music. Sometimes you have to play strong and sad, sometimes fast and happy, sometimes peaceful and slow. The only thing you can`t do, is lose the rhythm. Film Review

Cova, Cunhada, Lafa
We saw a doumentary called "Voices From the List".
The film is a special feature from the movie Schindler list, wich is based in a book with he same name. The documentary shows reports with the jewish peole who lived in the second war and were saved by Mr. Schindler. The people tel in the reports all their  stories about the Holocaust period, how the nazi were cruel, how the death capms were terrifying and how Mr. Schindler did what he could to save them and got it in the end.
The documentary comproves the truthness of facts showed in the movie and let a big impression in all the people who watch it. It makes us feel how we unknow the truepain, the treu desperate and the strengh people may have in order to support sittuations like the Holocaust.
We recommend the documentary to all the people who have enough age to understand what was the holocaust.we need to know and understand the events happened in the past to do not repeat the same mistakes in the future and cause pain and destruction to other cultures.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the biggest charitable foundation in the world.Was created by Bill Gates, founder and former president of Microsoft, and his wife, Melinda Gates. The funds from this nonprofit organization comes from private donations, the main part of the Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet.The foundation was established in January 2000 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington managing about U.S. $ 38 billions. It is headed by William H. Gates, father of Bill Gates and Patty Stonesifer. This is mainly aimed to the improvement of living conditions, particularly in health, and combating poverty. In the U.S. the institution to promote education and access to technology.

   On July 20, 2006 the Foundation announced a donation of U.S. $ 287 million for 16 research projects, aiming to increase international collaboration and exchange of scientific information in order to obtain a vaccine against AIDS. According to an article published on the website of the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, the donation will benefit researchers from Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Japan, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Uganda, UK, USA and Zambia.

Two future tecnologies: The Projected Stem Cells and The Revolutionary Weapons

The projected Stem cells are produced from adult cells, adding four different types of genes that are normally actives in embryonic cells. They are called Induced Pluripotent Stem cell, or IPS. The IPS, like an embryonic cell, can reproduce a lot of times and can transform in other types of cells.
The scientists also are trying to produce specific cells to understand how they act and to test new medicines.
This is an example of how the new technology can help the world if its used with wisdom and good intentions.

Unfortunately, the humans also create some new destructive technologies, like weapons.We can name The Active Denial system, which is a weapon that fires rays and these rays, when in contact with the human skin causes an insufferable ardor.
Another example is the Sticky Foam, which is a foam that hards in contact with the air and glue  the people onto the floor. The problem is that when this foam is threw at the human face, the person can die of suffocation.
Now we can see that things can be useful for good and bad things. And is our function to decide this use. So, let's be conscious and let`s make an better world with the our technologies!
